This January...

I took these babies out for many walks around town, and added to my collection of film rolls I need to develop!

I Changed my hair drastically

For Stevens birthday we went to a Chinese buffet that served fresh sushi!

I worked on my sweater quite a bit....

But then I learned how to crochet and abandoned my sweater to make granny squares.

We ate at the best hot dog place in town.

I read this book about the discovery of living Coelacanths, written by the guy who identified them. I am completely obsessed with this story! Also, this is the first book I have been able to finish in about seven years.

We always get a couple freak warm days in January, so my bulbs started coming up already! I hope they don't get too frostbit.

I took advantage of the nice days to let my bonsai sticks get some sun.

January was an okay month. My job involves sitting down all day and sorting things so my upper back, shoulders and arms have been killing me every day. I've been there for three months now and I can't believe my body still hasn't gotten used to it. I'm beginning to think it never will.. Also since Steven and I ride together to save gas, but our shifts are an hour and a half apart and we live almost half an hour away, means 11 hours of our day is spent getting to and being at work. Needless to say I have been keeping my eyes open for other jobs that wont make me so dang sore and won't take so much of my time.  All of this stuff really puts a damper on my creative side!

Even though February is my birthday month, it may be my least favorite month out of the whole year. Usually I'm tired of winter by then and just want spring to finally start. Good thing I've got my birthday to look forward to and it's a short month! I would like to see some snow before winter is over though. We'll see! Hopefully my next monthly recap will be less negative :)

  1. January is always tough month. It's so long, cold & the wintry weather. Judging from your photos it looks like you did manage to have some fun. The sushi looks cool and I loved visiting and scarfing down hot dogs at Skippy's together. I think it's good to have options on what project you're in the mood to work on. Granny squares go pretty fast so it feels like you're really accomplishing something. Cool looking book, glad you've taken up reading for pleasure again but sorry about your achy arms. Have you tried some yoga type stretches that would help strengthen?

  3. here's hopes for a better job this coming month, there's nothing like being cooped up for hours day in and day out to take a swing at energy and creativity. ugh. makes me shiver just thinking about it.
your kitting and crochet projects look so cool, and i also can't wait to see some of that film!

  4. I hope that you get a strike of luck and find another place to work. I once worked somewhere quite similar where I was sorting papers and things all day and even though you may not be covering much ground, it is exhausting! You must be so tired after such long days. I hope that this winter ends quick for you, but I still hope that you get to see some snow!

  5. Oh my word you have bulbs coming up already! Mine are buried so deep under gone knows how much snow I hope they don't get damp and moldy! Seems so far away the thought of the poking their heads up out of the soil! Hope something works out about a job for you, I use to have a 2 hour commute (on a good day) a couple of years ago and it was so exhausting with how it added to the work day!

  6. I can't believe you have bulbs coming up already, you must really have a nice long growing season there! Your little bonsai trees are pretty adorable, I love the pots - they looks so pretty! I am really sorry about your job, that's awful that you're getting so much back pain from it and that you both have to spend that much time away in the day. At that point, you get home and probably just want to go to sleep. I wish you good luck with the job search and hope something wonderful comes your way.
