Cat Photos Friday #121 Cloud Day

Tomorrow it will be four years since Cloud showed up at our house and decided to move in!

It was a chilly October day when we came home from grocery shopping and this little white cat was hanging out by the back door. The first chance she got, she raced inside the house and made herself at home by jumping on the bed and looking comfortable.

I thought for sure she must have a home since she was so friendly, so I took this picture to remember her visit and then put her back outside.

The next morning I found her hanging off the back door screaming to come in!

It turned out that Cloud didn't have a home after all, and had chosen our house to move into. We just couldn't turn her away, even though we had just picked out Chester and Jeeves to adopt, so before we knew it, Cloud became our cat too!

Cloud was about six months old when she moved in, and hadn't grown her fluff yet!

She was so happy she chose our home!

She's a very crazy, funny, fluffy cat.

I'm glad Cloud chose our home. And I think she is too, even though a week later we got her two little brothers that drive her crazy :)

Clouds Above Craggy Gardens

Last October we took a trip to the Blue Ridge mountains and I never posted the last of the photos.

Way way up, along the Blue Ridge Parkway's winding roads, tucked away between the tall mountain peaks, is a place called Craggy Gardens.

On the crest that connects the craggy domes, Clouds fly swiftly across, often obscuring the road.

A quiet little visitors center sits on the ledge, overlooking the valley. The perfect spot to watch the storms pass by.

As the storm moves on, little cloud tufts rise up from the trees to join the large formations up above and then drift away. Leaving the blue sky to return.

The best time to visit Craggy Gardens is after a storm.

What I Wore at the Harbor

As the summer evening crept closer, and the blazing sun began to set, I wandered along the harbor, waiting for the boat that would take me out past the islands, and onto the sea.

I could explore the little islands all day!
I miss the ocean.

Weekly Journal #64

For our three year wedding anniversary we decided to check out a Thai restaurant downtown that we had never been too, and I ordered a delicious curry. I love curry dishes so much and I want to attempt to make my own, so I can eat it all the time.

It finally rained for the time in a month!  For a second I was almost tricked into thinking fall had finally started, but then the sun came back out and the temperature was back in the 90s. (Summer is refusing to go away this year!)

I am finally paying attention to my film cameras again. I got bummed out a while ago when my Canon AE-1 decided to break. But the other day I realized how many other 35 mm cameras I have and decided it was time for them t0 start getting some use.
(And maybe I'll actually start getting my film developed too!)

Beaufort Harbor

The Crystal Coast is bountiful with islands to visit and explore.
The harbor is always filled with boats of every kind; ferries, yachts, fishing boats, house boats, and even the occasional pirate ship. (Pictured to the left!)

We traveled one evening, to the picturesque town of Beaufort, to wander along the boardwalk and watch the boats come and go, before boarding one for a sunset cruise along the islands.

It was a peaceful weekday, not too crowded. The sun was bright and the wind was warm.

We boarded the little boat and set off on the adventure, weaving through all the other sea vessels and leaving the harbor behind.

Boat travels are one of my favorite things about coming to this place!

Weekly Journal #63

I visited my Mom's house his week and go to see This Cat! It's been almost a year since she first showed up and she's doing great.

I have been drinking sleepy time tea most nights this week and it has really helped me fall asleep. I have also been trying to get back into reading every night before bed. Something I have not done in many years!

One morning we walked to a local coffee shop for a coworker's work anniversary and got coffee and biscotti.

This week I became officially bored of summer and am wishing for fall. It has been in the 80s and 90s all month which is strange, usually it would have been colder by now... :(

Cat Photos Friday #120 Litter Box Upgrade

The cat's bedroom is getting a remodel, and with it, comes a litter box upgrade, Party!!

Their bedroom will now double as a laundry room, and possibly my future office, so I wasn't looking forward to stepping on cat litter strewn across the floor every time I went in there. I choose this box because of the high sides and cover, and because it isn't too bad looking. I found it on amazon and had it shipped.

I was worried the cats may not like it because they are used to an open box..

But so far they love it!  Good news all around!
